Miracle Sightings

I love hearing of miraculous things God does, so here's a story I want to pass on to you:

This week, for Spring Break, we have a youth group from Winkler in every day to help run a VBS program for our kids. I met the group on Monday, and they were full of energy and excitement and loved carrying kids on their backs, running around, and just being involved every minute of the time they were here. One teen, Tim, was on crutches and found himself discouraged at his limitations with these energetic children. He had broken his hip two months ago and even with the crutches, movement was painful. He did really well, and I was impressed with how he managed to make the best of the situation.

The next day, when the group came in, I could have sworn it wasn't the same teen using the crutches - and in any case, he sure didn't look like he needed him anyway. A little while later, that suspicion was confirmed, and I heard his story:

The night before, this Mennonite Brethren youth group had been closing the evening in prayer. They poured water on each other in a symbolic gesture of God's overflowing love for each of them, and they prayed for each other. One of the girls mentioned that she kept seeing this picture of Tim getting out of the van at the end of the trip - without his crutches. She wondered what it might mean. So the group decided to pray over Tim. Tim started shaking, and when asked what was going on, he told the group that this was exactly how he had felt when he broke his hip - cold, a little wet, afraid, and sitting in this exact position. His leader offered to help him move, and stood him up. Then, knowing something was happening they didn't understand, together, they started walking... and Tim could walk! There was no pain, no discomfort - his hip was completely healed!

I wasn't there for this miraculous prayer service, but I was there the next day when Tim had no need for his crutches. Interestingly, the VBS topic for the day was "Gods healing power" and so the script was thrown away as Tim stood up before the kids and told them his story. It was pretty powerful!

It also has been an impacting lesson for us as we pray for these children: so many are emotionally or spiritually crippled due to abuse and neglect that happens early on in their lives. We are praying for that same healing power Tim experienced on his hip for the spirits of these children.
