There are a couple girls I would like to request prayer for. I can't tell you their real names or exact situations to protect their identity, but I'll call them "Amber" and "Jenni".
Amber comes from a reasonably stable home, but over the last year has fought with her mom constantly. A few months ago she ran away from home and was missing for a week. I was involved in the reconciliation process, which was difficult but ended with various agreements on both parties to get help. It took less than 24 hours for all those promises to be broken, but the two kept trying. This week Amber ran away from home again. As I write this it has been 5 days and no one knows where she is. She has friends, so I am less concerned for her immediate physical safety as I am for the future she is building for herself. School is not going well, and the chances of her being willing to try reconciliation are slim after the last failed attempt. She's 13, has no faith in the social service system after seeing what it's done to her friends, and may feel she has a better chance on her own. Pray that she will be safe, that her mom would be willing to make serious efforts (and not just promises) to get the help needed to make their family work, and that Amber would be willing to forgive and try again. Also pray for Amber's long-term future, as graduation is so key to a reasonable hope for a future while on this earth, and that's becoming a slimmer and slimmer hope.
Jenni has never had it easy, and has become quite adept at "looking after herself". She doesn't live with her parents, but has just found out her mom has cancer and is asking for a 'last chance' with her kids. Jenni feels pressure to give it another chance, but knows she is not currently strong in her Christian walk, and moving in with either parent involves serious pressures to go against the choices she has made since becoming a Christian. It also would cut many of the ties for future years with the good resources she currently has. She has decided to go ahead, anyway. Pray that she will lose her taste for "freedoms" she has been craving lately and will soon have a chance to pursue recklessly. "Freedoms" that have such painful consequences such as drug use, partying, or sexual 'freedom'. Pray also that she will hang on to the positive influences and choices in her life. Most importantly, pray that she does not give up on Jesus!
