In inner city ministry, I often feel like there are no "real" parents: every kid becomes the parent at around 8 years of age and, if there's more than one sibling, checks out of the parenting world at around 11 years of age. It's easy to 'dis' the parents. I love this article which talks about extending grace, seeing the story from both sides, and making real efforts to reach out to the parents, and not just the kids. What a great reminder!
