This year we were able to take 32 children with us to Winkler Bible Camp's TeePee Village, where they hosted us for one week of summer camp. I was able to go along as a staff support, and was blessed and impressed; the staffs' patience, energy, love and compassion for these kids was beautiful to see. We saw God work in mighty ways, and 11 of our children made decisions to allow Christ to lead their lives.
One highlight for me was seeing the kids worshipping together. Each night we had a brief message and sang songs around the campfire. The kids just loved lifting their voices in praise to God. The kids were each given a CD to take home of the staff singing these songs, and on the bus ride we listened through that CD four times over, the kids singing along with all their hearts. A few weeks later, I was walking through the neighbourhood and heard one of the songs, about not being ashamed of Jesus, being sung by a child. I commented on it, and she told me she and her brothers listen to that CD all the time at home - what a neat witness to their family!
