Week One of Day Camps has started: it's one of my favourite seasons of ministry, with the building full of children five hours a day, learning about Jesus and loving it! We're heading into Day Three, and have learned about Lazarus and the healing of the paralyzed man already, and how Jesus is our Healer and our Leader.
My role is as the director, but this year we are operating with almost 1/2 the staff and volunteers as we have become accustomed to, which also makes me the food coordinator, song leader, skit actor and games leader. It also makes me absolutely exhausted by the end of the day!
Thankfully, each of our 10 teens and adult leaders are exemplary and I feel so relieved, encouraged and blessed by their compassion and skill in working with these children. Unfortunately, we are somewhat beyond our limits already, and we need PRAYER for energy, love, endurance and possibly more volunteers as we finish this week and go into the next. Already we have had to turn away almost twenty children (after we took an additional ten each week, despite our tiredness, just because it is so hard to say no!) but even so we have never run a program so short-staffed and it is beginning to show in our leaders. Please hold us up in prayer.
