This thanksgiving, there was much to give thanks for.
My grandmother died, a month before her 90th birthday. Her funeral was last Saturday. It was the first funeral I have ever been at, where the funeral could be a celebration of a life well lived, a woman much loved, a peaceful ending and a joyful future, for her life isn't over - she's just gone home. While I'll miss her, her passing was one to be thankful for, rather than to mourn. She's in heaven, and she's happy! 24 of my 25 aunts and uncles came from all corners of the globe, for the first time in 18 years, the 13 siblings were together.
Despite overbooked flights, it worked out for my own travel plans to Calgary (for wedding planning) could be rearranged and Matthew could join me here in Winnipeg instead, so we could be with family.
My friend, and soon to be sister-in-law, had a healthy baby girl and they are both doing very well (but tired!)
Coworkers put on a thanksgiving meal for some of the teens. As the group shared what their weekend plans were, one teen said, "this is my only thanksgiving meal. I guess Inner City Youth Alive is my family."
And there is exactly one month left before I get married!
I sure have a lot to be thankful for!
